Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • 16” MacBook Pro, M1 Pro(2021)

    I was using an Intel-based 13” MacBook Pro prior to this and the difference is night and day. I’ve never heard the fans turn on a single time, even under the incredibly heavy loads I put it through.

  • Sumsung Display

    Any sumsung display will do. I’m not picky.

  • Keychron for Keyboard

    Good enough for now. I’m still looking for the perfect keyboard.

  • Apple Magic Mouse

    I try to use the mouse as little as possible but when I work, but sometimes there is no substitute.

  • Lazy Boy Chair

    Simple and comfortable. It's also a bit uncomfortable so I get to work standing up :)

Development tools

  • Neovim

    Vim is the best text editor ever made. I’ve tried to switch to other editors but I always come back.

  • iTerm2

    This has become my default terminal emulator. I probably need to try other ones.

  • VScode

    When working with teams I use VSCode. It’s not vim but close with a vim extension.

Design

  • Figma

    Figma is great.

Productivity

  • Raycast

    This is the first app I install on any new computer. It’s like a shortcut for all of my other shortcuts.

  • Apple notes

    This is all I need after trying every note-taking app under the sun.

  • github

    Not just for coding but for all of my writing and note-taking.

  • Apple Music

    The personalized playlists are so good that I’ve stopped listening when working.
